Perícias de Saúde no Ministério Público Federal is a 71-page institutional guide I produced for the Health Services (SSI-Saúde) of the Federal Prosecution Service of Brazil (MPF). It sets out the procedures and workflows for official health expert evaluations of federal staff — from sick leave and disability retirement to family-member care leave, special work schedules for dependents with disabilities, and mental health assessments for administrative proceedings. The guide is organized into 17 chapters and three appendices: a compilation of the relevant normative texts, a glossary, and a list of sources.
The starting point was a rough outline — a first pass assembled early in the project from web and AI-assisted research, with placeholder step lists, a suggested visual identity that didn’t fit the institution, and legal citations that didn’t hold up to scrutiny. I rebuilt the guide from there: fact-checked every legal reference against the actual statutes, restructured the content, and designed the full 71-page layout in InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop. ChatGPT, Perplexity, and NotebookLM supported the research along the way.

From draft to final guide
- Restructured the content into 17 chapters and three appendices, replacing the draft’s flat, unnumbered list of topics.
- Added Chapter 17 (Lei Complementar nº 75/1993 – Estatuto do Ministério Público da União), which wasn’t in the draft.
- Folded the draft’s standalone chapter on determining a dependent’s intellectual or mental disability into the related chapters — pension evaluation and special work schedule — instead of keeping it separate.
- Fact-checked and corrected legal citations. For example, the draft grounded the integral retirement pay for a listed serious illness in Decreto nº 3.298/1999, which doesn’t cover that; the final version grounds it correctly in Lei nº 8.112/1990, Art. 186, §1º.
- Replaced the draft’s repeated, generic “Infográfico – Etapas” placeholders with fully designed, illustrated step-by-step diagrams, built specifically for each chapter’s procedure.
- Wrote and added Annex 1, a roughly 24-page compilation of the normative texts referenced throughout the guide — nonexistent in the draft.
- Wrote and added Annex 2, a glossary of institutional acronyms, systems, and technical terms — nonexistent in the draft.
- Wrote and added Annex 3, a formal list of sources, including the federal government’s own official manual on the subject (3rd edition, 2017).
- Added the front matter the draft didn’t have: a title page, credits, table of contents, presentation, and a simplified catalog record (ficha catalográfica).
- Designed the full visual identity — cover, chapter dividers, icons, typography, and color system — and laid out all 71 pages in InDesign.
