According to data from the Ministry of Health, Brazil exceeds 650,000 deaths caused by the SARS-COV-2 virus. In addition, more than 29 million disease cases have been recorded.
To learn about the epidemiological profile of COVID-19 cases and vaccination coverage in the MPF (Federal Prosecution Service of Brazil), the Secretariat of Integrated Health Services (SSI-Saúde) conducted a pioneering study in the Institution, the “COVID-19 research in the MPF”. All MPF units were encouraged to participate in the research, guaranteeing the number of representative responses and an analysis that portrays the Institution. The results will assist in decision-making and improve health promotion actions.
From the knowledge produced, SSI-Saúde concluded that:
– 24% of MPF members have already been diagnosed with covid-19 confirmed. Most (89%) reported having presented the mild condition of the disease, that is, without the need for hospitalization. The disease also reached the MPF audience, regardless of gender, age, or stocking region. However, it is noteworthy that the public most affected by severe COVID-19 (with hospitalization) is represented by males aged 50 to 59.
– Memory loss, anosmia (loss of smell), asthenia (excessive tiredness), hair loss, ageusia (loss of taste) and difficulty concentrating were the central sequelae of COVID-19, reported by the MPF population.
– Until the end of the survey (November 2021), 96% of MPF members reported receiving at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine. The vaccination coverage profile in the MPF public is also distributed by gender, age group, age and region of the country.
– The reasons for non-vaccination by 3% of MPF members were: contrary opinions; awaiting the end of vaccine testing phases; having already contracted the disease; fear of side effects; and medical recommendation.
